Most of the belongings that were in that house were accumulated by family members who had lived in that very same house, which included my dad’s and even some of my own things. When the smoke settled and we went back to see what could be salvaged, we realized nothing was salvageable. In that moment, I cried out, “Why, Lord? Why would you allow something like this to happen? Nothing is salvageable, nothing here can be restored.” And then, in that very moment, I heard the Lord speak to me: “Your relationship with your father is salvageable and can be restored.” The Bible says to delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Sometimes those desires are not materialistic.
